Caught in the Aisles: My Husband’s Secret Embrace

I’ve been married for four years now, and all this time, my husband has been the perfect partner—I can’t even recall a single serious argument between us.

Lately, we’ve started thinking about having a child. We’ve been trying and planning, but so far, no luck. The issue lies in my hormonal imbalance, but even so, my husband has never once blamed me. We agreed that if we can’t conceive naturally, we’ll consider adoption.

I always thought we had the closest thing to a perfect family—except maybe for a lack of passion, which kept it from being truly ideal.

I also have a close friend, Charlotte. She isn’t married yet, so we spend quite a bit of time together, often going shopping. Charlotte is beautiful, takes good care of herself, hits the gym regularly, and earns well. She knows my husband too—they go to the same gym, though their workout times rarely overlap.

I’ve never been the jealous type, and I trusted my husband completely—until one incident. It was nearly time for him to return from the gym, so I popped out to the corner shop to grab some bread for dinner. There, between the aisles, I saw something ugly: my husband wasn’t just flirting with Charlotte—he had his arm around her. The moment I appeared, they sprang apart, but it was too late. I’d already seen enough. I burst into tears and ran out, with my husband chasing after me.

Outside, he swore nothing had happened—they were just standing close, and I must have misunderstood. He sounded so convincing I almost wanted to believe him. Almost.

When I got home, I packed a bag and left for my parents’ place. I didn’t tell Mum or Dad—they’ve both got strong personalities, and Dad would’ve marched straight over to confront him. For now, I’m staying here, trying to figure out what to do next. There’s no solid proof for divorce, but I can’t honestly say I still love my husband either.

Charlotte keeps calling, but I don’t want to talk to her—who knows what she’d say? If she tries convincing me I imagined it all, it’ll only make things worse. I don’t trust her anymore. Maybe she’s just trying to save her own skin.
