My dear friend from those days had just turned twenty-five. She was youthful, slender, and possessed a striking beauty that seemed unforgettable. She found employment at a travel agency in London, and there, she began a romance with the managing director.
The gentleman was over forty, married, and raising two children. He started renting her a flat in Kensington and showered her with expensive gifts. Their affair lasted nearly a year.

In time, the directors attitude toward his lover cooled; out of frustration, she began to provoke him. His wife, meanwhile, was the picture of charm and composure. Things between the director and my friend grew disastrous, and he began preferring his evenings at home. The turning point came during a business trip the three had to take together. During negotiations, my friend behaved poorly, mistakenly thinking her relationship with the director made her indispensable to the firmafter all, she was involved with the boss himself!
She proved a worse companion than the wife she had helped betray. The director asked her to vacate her flat and made it clear their liaison was finished. When my friend returned to work, the chief accountant summoned her and let her know her services were no longer required.

She gathered herself, waited until the romances sweetness faded, and then asserted herself. That is how a wise woman behaves.
