I decided to bring my mother-in-law to live with us because she was seriously ill.

Ever since I was little, Ive always been the sort of person whod lend a hand to anyone in trouble, even to someone who wasnt exactly my best mate. I never really thought of my mother-in-law as one of those sorts, though. Despite all the jokes and assumptions people make, shes actually a lovely womanso kind and well-mannered.

Recently, there was a bit of a crisis: she got really ill, was admitted to hospital, and needed some care afterwards while she recovered. So, without even chatting to my husband about it, I brought her home so we could look after her ourselves. I figured hed be chuffed that I was doing my best for his mum, but she seemed a bit downcast on the way home, almost like she wanted to say something but couldnt find the words.

When we got in, I helped her settle in the house, made up her bed, and got started on some soup for her. Honestly, I just wanted both her and my husband to feel happy and cared for. Sadly, things didnt turn out the way I hoped. When my husband walked through the door, the atmosphere shifted. He saw his mum resting and straightaway questioned why that leech was in our house, and he actually tried to kick her out! I barely managed to keep him from doing itif I hadnt stepped in, he wouldve thrown his own mum out.

Were still married, but Im really disappointed by how he acted. Its not what I ever expected from him, and its left me feeling pretty let down.
