The Scent of French Perfume and Lost Affection in the Manor. Little Lizzie Only Knew the Warmth of Nanny Nora’s Embrace—Until the Day Money Vanished and Nora Was Gone Forever. Twenty Years Later, Lizzie Stands on a Remote Village Doorstep With Her Son and a Truth That Burns in Her Throat… *** The Smell of Baking Meant Home. But Not the Grand House With Its Marble Staircase and Three-Tiered Crystal Chandelier Where Lizzie Was Raised. No—A Real Home. The Kind She Dreamed Up Herself, Perched on a Kitchen Stool, Watching Nora’s Working Hands Knead the Dough With Care. “Mummy, Why Is Dough Alive?” Five-Year-Old Lizzie Asked. “Because It Breathes,” Nora Would Say, Never Pausing in Her Work. “See How It Bubbles? That’s Its Way of Smiling Before the Oven. Strange, Isn’t It? Smiling Before the Fire.” Lizzie Didn’t Understand Then. Now—She Did. She Stood in the Icy Gloom of a Country Lane, Her Four-Year-Old, Michael, Held Tight. The Bus Had Spat Them Into a Grey February Twilight, Where Only the Silence of the Countryside Remained—So Deep You Could Hear Footsteps Crunching Snow Three Doors Away. Michael Didn’t Cry. He Hardly Ever Cried Anymore—He’d Learned. He Just Gazed Up With Serious, Wise Eyes That Reminded Lizzie Of Stefan—His Eyes, His Jaw, His Silence. That Silence That Always Hid Something. Don’t Think of Him. Not Now. “Mum, I’m Cold.” “I Know, Poppet. We’ll Find Her Soon.” She Didn’t Know the Address. Didn’t Even Know If Nora Was Still Alive—Twenty Years Is a Lifetime. All Lizzie Remembered Was: “Pinewood Village, Essex.” And That Smell of Dough. And the Warmth of the Only Hands in That Whole Mansion That Ever Stroked Her Hair—Just Because. The Road Passed Sagging Fences and Flickers of Yellow, Dim Yet Living, Light in Some Windows. Lizzie Stopped at the Last Cottage Simply Because Her Legs Failed Her and Michael Became Too Heavy to Hold. The Gate Groaned. Two Steps Buried Under Drifting Snow. A Wooden Door With Weathered Paint. She Knocked. Only Silence. Then—Shuffling Steps. The Bolt Drawn Back. And a Voice—Hoarse, Aged, Yet So Familiar Lizzie Couldn’t Breathe: “Who’s Calling at This Hour?” The Door Opened. There Stood a Little Old Lady in a Knitted Cardigan Over Her Nightdress. Her Face Was Apple-Wrinkled and Kind. But the Eyes—Still That Blue, Still So Alive. “Nora…” The Old Woman Stilled. Then Slowly Raised a Gnarled, Workworn Hand and Touched Lizzie’s Cheek. “Heavens Above…Lizzie?” Lizzie’s Knees Buckled. Holding Her Son Tight, She Couldn’t Speak—Only Let Hot Tears Run Down Her Frozen Cheeks. Nora Asked Nothing. Not “Where From?” or “Why?” or “What Happened?” She Simply Reached for the Old Coat Hanging Behind the Door and Draped It Over Lizzie’s Shoulders. Then, Softly, She Took Michael—He Didn’t Flinch, Just Met Her Eyes—and Hugged Him Close. “There, There, Love,” She Murmured. “You’re Home, My Little Bird. Come In, Come In.” *** Twenty Years. Enough Time to Build an Empire and Lose It. To Forget Your Mother Tongue. To Bury Your Parents—Though Lizzie’s Were Alive, Now Strangers As Distant As Furniture Left in a Let Flat. Once, She Thought That Glorious House Was Her Whole World. Four Stories of Supposed Happiness: Drawing Room With a Fireplace, Father’s Study Reeking of Cigar Smoke and Sternness, Mother’s Velvet-Draped Bedroom, and—Down Below, Half-Basement—The Kitchen. Nora’s Realm. “Miss Lizzie, Not Down Here,” The Nannies and Tutors Scolded. “Upstairs to Mummy With You.” But Upstairs, Mummy Was Always on the Phone—Chattering With Friends, Partners, Lovers (That, Lizzie Didn’t Understand Then, Only Knew Something Was Wrong in the Flatness of Her Mother’s Laughter When Father Walked In). But In the Kitchen—Everything Was Right. Nora Taught Her to Make Pasties—Crooked and Lumpy as They Were. They Waited for Dough to Rise. “Quiet, Lizzie—Don’t Anger It or It’ll Sink.” When the Rows Started Upstairs, Nora Would Pull Her Onto Her Lap and Sing—Simple Folk Songs With No Words, Just Humming. “Nora, Are You My Mummy?” Six-Year-Old Lizzie Once Asked. “Bless, No, I’m Only the Help.” “Then Why Do I Love You More Than Mum?” Nora Was Silent, Stroking Her Hair. Then Finally Whispered, “Love Doesn’t Ask Why, Love Just Comes. You Love Your Mum Too—Just Differently.” But Lizzie Knew She Didn’t. Not Really. Her Mother Was Beautiful and Important and Bought Paris Dresses, but Never Sat Up All Night When Lizzie Was Ill. That Was Nora—Cooling Her Fever With a Gentle Hand. Then Came That Night. *** “Eighty Thousand—Gone,” Lizzie Overheard Through a Partly Open Door. “From the Safe. I Remember Putting It There.” “Perhaps You Spent It and Forgot?” “Paul!” Her Father’s Voice—Flat, Like Everything About Him Lately. “Alright, Alright. Who Had Access?” “Nora Cleaned the Study. She Knows the Code—I Gave It to Her, Told Her to Dust Properly.” A Pause. Lizzie, Nine Years Old, Pressed Against the Wall, Felt Something Important Tearing Inside. “Her Mother Has Cancer,” Father Said. “The Treatment’s Expensive. She Asked for an Advance Last Month.” “I Refused.” “Why?” “Because She’s Staff, Paul. If We Give Money to Every Maid for Their Mum or Brother…” “Margaret.” “What, Margaret? You Can See for Yourself. She Needed Money, She Had Access…” “We Don’t Know For Sure.” “You Want to Call Police? Invite the Headlines? Have Everyone Say We Harbour Thieves?” Silence Again. Lizzie Shut Her Eyes. Old Enough to Understand, Too Young to Do a Thing. Next Morning, Nora Packed Her Bag. Lizzie, in Bear Pyjamas and Bare Feet, Peered Around the Door. Nora Neatly Folded Her Robe, Slippers, the Little St Nicholas Icon That Lived By Her Bed—All Into a Faded Holdall. “Nora…” She Turned. Face Calm, But Her Eyes—Red Raw. “Lizzie, What Are You Doing Up?” “Are You Leaving?” “I Am, Dearest. Off to My Own Mum. She’s Ill.” “What About Me?” Nora Squatted Down With a Winced Groan, So Their Eyes Met. She Smelled of Dough—She Always Did. “You’ll Grow Up, Lizzie. Become a Good Person. Maybe, One Day, You’ll Come See Me—in Pinewood. Remember?” “Pinewood.” “Good Girl.” She Quickly Kissed Lizzie’s Forehead and Was Gone. The Door Closed. The Lock Clicked. And That Smell—Dough, Warmth, Home—Was Gone Forever. *** The Cottage Was Tiny. One Room, Woodburner in the Corner, Oilcloth on the Table, Two Beds Behind a Chintz Curtain. On the Wall—That Faded St Nicholas Icon, Darkened by Candle Soot. Nora Bustled About—Boiling the Kettle, Fetching Home-Made Jam, Making Up a Little Bed for Michael. “Sit Down, Sit—You’ll Catch a Chill.” She Pressed. But Lizzie Couldn’t Sit. Surrounded by the Poverty of This Tumbledown Little Place—She, Child of the Mansion—All She Felt Was Something Strange. Peace. Real, True Peace, First Time in Years. As If a String Pulled Tight Within Had at Last Been Loosened. “Nora,” She Managed, Her Voice Trembling. “I’m Sorry.” “For What, Pet?” “For Not Defending You. For Staying Silent Twenty Years. For—” She Choked. How Did You Say It? Michael Slept, the Moment His Head Touched the Pillow. Nora Sat Across, Nursing a Mug of Tea, Waiting. So Lizzie Spoke. How, After Nora’s Departure, the House Had Gone To Ruin. Mother and Father Divorced. Father’s Business Collapsed in the Crash, Swallowing the Flat, Cars, Everything. Mother Left for a New Husband in Germany, Father Drank Himself to Death in a Crummy Bedsit When Lizzie Was Twenty-Three. She’d Been Alone Ever Since. “And Then There Was Stefan,” She Whispered, Staring at the Table. “He Used To Come Round When We Were Kids, Do You Remember? Skinny, Wild-Haired. Always Pinching Sweets.” “I Remember the Lad.” “I Thought—Finally, a Family Of My Own. But—He Was a Gambler. Slots, Cards, the Lot. I Never Realised, He Hid It. By the Time I Knew, It Was Too Late. Debts, Threats—Michael…” She Trailed Off. The Woodburner Popped. The Tiny Icon’s Flame Quivered, Throwing Shaky Shadows. “When I Filed for Divorce, He…He Confessed. Thought I’d Praise His Honesty, Forgive Him. That I’d Be Grateful.” “Confessed What?” Lizzie Met Nora’s Eyes. “It Was Him Who Took That Money. From the Safe. He Knew the Code—Must’ve Watched You Give It. He Needed…For Gambling. And You Got the Blame.” Silence. Nora Sat Very Still, Knuckles White Around Her Tea. “Nora, I’m So Sorry. Only Found Out Last Week. I Never Knew, I—” “Shh…” Nora Stood, Came Over. As She’d Done All Those Years Before, She Lowered Herself, Stiffly, Till Their Eyes Met. “My Dove. What Are You Sorry For?” “But Your Mum Needed Medicine…” “She Passed a Year Later. God Rest Her Soul.” Nora Crossed Herself. “And Me? I Live. I’ve the Garden, a Goat, Good Neighbours. I Need Little.” “But They Cast You Out! Called You a Thief!” “Sometimes God Guides Us to Truth Through Falsehood,” Nora Whispered. “If I’d Stayed, I’d Never Have Been With Mum Those Last Months. They Were Everything to Me.” Lizzie Was Quiet. Her Chest Ached—Shame, Pain, Love, Gratitude—all At Once. “Was I Angry?” Nora Continued. “Of Course, I Was. Hurt, Awfully Hurt. I Never Took So Much as a Penny in My Life. But, In Time, It Passed. Carrying That Pain—It Eats You Up. But I Wanted to Live, Not Rot.” She Took Lizzie’s Hands—Rough and Knotted, but Still So Warm. “And You Came. With Your Boy—To Me, an Old Woman, in This Ruin. You Remembered. You Still Loved Me. That’s Worth More Than Any Safe Full of Money.” Lizzie Wept. Not Hidden, Adult Tears, but Childlike, Heaving Sobs Into Nora’s Skinny Shoulder. *** In the Morning, Lizzie Woke to the Scent. Dough. She Opened Her Eyes. Michael Slept Next to Her, Arms Askew. Beyond the Curtain, Nora Bustled, Shifting Things, Rustling Papers. “Nora?” “Awake? Up You Get, Dove—The Pasties Are Cooling.” Pasties. Lizzie Rose, Sleep-Drunk, and Stepped Into the Humble Room. On Old Newspaper, There They Were—Golden, Tumbled, Sealed Just Like Childhood. And That Smell—Home. “I Was Thinking,” Nora Said, Pouring Her Tea in a Chipped Mug, “The Library in Town Needs a Helper. Doesn’t Pay Loads, But You’ve No Big Bills Here. We’ll Get Michael Into Nursery, Mrs. Jenkins Runs It, She’s Lovely. We’ll Figure the Rest in Time.” She Made It Sound Like All Was Settled, Nothing to Question. “Nora—” Lizzie Faltered. “I’m Not Family. It’s Been So Long. Why Did You…?” “Why What?” “Why Take Us In? No Questions, No Fuss?” Nora Looked at Her with That Same Wise, Gentle Glance Lizzie Remembered. “Remember Asking Me Why Dough Is Alive?” “Because It Breathes.” “Exactly. So Does Love. It Breathes Where It Pleases. You Can’t Sack It or Throw It Out. Where It Settles, There It Stays—Whether It Waits Twenty Years, or Thirty.” She Pushed a Warm, Apple-Filled Pastie into Lizzie’s Hand. “Now Eat Up, Miss. You’re Far Too Skinny.” Lizzie Bit In. For the First Time in Years, She Smiled. Dawn Broke Outside. The Snow Dazzled in the Sunrise, and For a Moment—The Whole World Seemed Simple and Kind. Like Nora’s Pasties. Like Her Hands. Like a Love That Can Never Be Dismissed. Michael Stumbled In, Rubbing His Eyes. “Mummy, It Smells Lovely.” “That’s Grandma Nora’s Baking.” “Gran-da?” He Tasted the Word, Glanced at Nora. She Smiled, Crinkles Lighting Up Her Face. “Yes, Grandson. Come Sit, Let’s Eat.” So He Did. And, For the First Time in Half a Year, He Laughed—As Nora Showed Him How to Shape Dough Into Funny Little Men. And Lizzie Watched Her Son and the Woman She’d Always Thought of as Her Mother—and Understood: This Was Home. Not Walls or Marble, Not Chandeliers. Just Warm Hands, The Smell Of Dough. Just Love—Ordinary, Earthy, Gentle. The Kind of Love You Can’t Buy. Can’t Fire. Just Is—and Will Be, As Long as Even One Heart Still Beats. The Memory of Love Is a Strange Thing. We Forget Dates, Faces, Whole Years—But Never the Smell of Mum’s Baking. Maybe Because Love Doesn’t Live in the Mind. It Lives Somewhere Deeper, Beyond the Reach of Time or Resentment. Sometimes, It Takes Losing Everything—Status, Money, Pride—to Find Your Way Home. Back to Those Waiting Hands.

The manor smelt of English lavender and quiet resentment. Little Emily had known only one pair of kind

Even now, some nights I wake up and wonder when my dad managed to take everything from us. I was fifteen when it happened. We lived in a small but well-kept house—furnished, the fridge full after shopping days, and most bills paid on time. I was in year eleven, and my only worry was passing maths and saving up for a pair of trainers I really wanted. It all began to change when my father started coming home later and later. He’d walk in without a word, toss his keys on the table, and head straight to his room with his phone in hand. Mum would say: — Late again? Do you think this house keeps itself running? He’d answer curtly: — Leave me alone, I’m tired. I listened from my room, headphones on, pretending nothing was wrong. One night, I saw him talking on the phone in the garden, quietly laughing and saying things like “it’s almost sorted” and “don’t worry, I’ll handle it.” When he saw me, he hung up immediately. I felt uneasy but said nothing. The day he left was a Friday. I came home from school to find a suitcase open on his bed. Mum stood in the doorway, eyes red. I asked: — Where’s he going? He didn’t even look at me, just said: — I’ll be gone for a while. Mum cried out: — A while with who? Tell us the truth! That’s when he snapped: — I’m leaving with another woman. I’m done with this life! I started crying and said: — What about me? My school? Our home? All he said was: — You’ll manage. He closed his suitcase, grabbed the documents from the drawer, took his wallet, and left without a goodbye. That evening, Mum tried to withdraw money from the cash machine but her card was blocked. The next day at the bank, they told her the account was empty. He’d taken all the money they’d saved. We also learned he’d left two months of bills unpaid and taken out a loan in Mum’s name without telling her, signing her as guarantor. I remember Mum sitting at the table, checking receipts with an old calculator, crying and repeating: — It’s never enough… it’s never enough… I tried to help add up the bills but didn’t even understand half of what was happening. A week later our internet was cut off, and soon we almost lost the electricity too. Mum started looking for work—cleaning houses. I began selling sweets at school. I was embarrassed to stand with a bag of chocolates at lunch, but I did it because we barely had enough for necessities at home. There was a day I opened the fridge and all that was inside was a jug of water and half a tomato. I sat in the kitchen and cried alone. That night we ate plain rice, nothing else. Mum apologised for not being able to give me what she used to. Much later I saw a Facebook photo of my dad with that woman in a restaurant—raising glasses of wine together. My hands shook as I messaged him: “Dad, I need money for school supplies.” He replied: “I can’t support two families.” That was our last conversation. After that, he never called again. He didn’t ask if I graduated, if I was ill, if I needed anything. He simply disappeared. Now I work, pay my way, and help Mum. But the wound is still there. Not just for the money, but because of the abandonment, the coldness, the way he left us struggling and carried on as if nothing happened. And even now, many nights I wake up with the same question stuck in my chest: How do you survive when your own father takes everything and leaves you to figure out how to make it on your own, while you’re still a child?

Even now, there are nights when I wake up in the darkness, asking myself how my father managed to take

“Please… don’t leave me alone again. Not tonight.” The heart-wrenching final words of 68-year-old retired British officer Calvin Hale, whispered to his faithful old K9 partner Ranger before collapsing on his living room floor—only for Ranger, the loyal German Shepherd who had stood by Calvin through every hardship, to raise the alarm with desperate barks. As their quiet London neighbourhood raced to help, it became a testament to the unbreakable bond between two weathered souls—showing that on the coldest night, true companionship can save a life, and that sometimes, we rescue each other.

Please dont leave me on my own again. Not tonight. Those were the last words 68-year-old retired inspector

Letting Trouble Through My Own Door — Dad, what’s all this new stuff? Did you raid the local antique shop? — Christina raised her eyebrows, eyeing the white knitted doily now sitting on her dresser. — I never knew you were such a fan of old relics. Honestly, your taste is just like Granny Zoe’s… — Oh, Christina! Popping by unannounced? — Oleg Petrovich poked his head out from the kitchen. — I… Well, I wasn’t expecting you… Her father was trying to look cheerful, but his eyes betrayed a guilty conscience. — Clearly, you weren’t expecting me, — Christina pursed her lips and strode into the living room, bracing herself for more surprises. — Dad… Where did all this come from? What’s going on here? Christina hardly recognised her own flat. …When she inherited the place from her grandma, it was a gloomy sight: battered old furniture, a bulbous TV on a peeling stand, rusty radiators, wallpaper falling away in places… But at least it was hers. By then, Christina had saved up a little bit of money, just enough for a proper renovation. Scandinavian: light colours and clean lines made her two-bed much airier. She’d lovingly picked out every accent, matching curtains to the mood and laying down fluffy rugs… Now her thick blackout curtains had been replaced with basic white netting. Her Italian sofa lay smothered under a synthetic throw emblazoned with a grinning tiger. On the coffee table sat a lurid pink plastic vase filled with fake neon roses. But the worst part was the smells. Frying oil and fish reeked from the kitchen. Tobacco stung her nose—her father never smoked… — Christina, love… — Oleg finally piped up. — About all this… I’m not alone. I wanted to tell you sooner, but—well, I didn’t manage. — Not alone? — Christina was dumbstruck. — Dad, this wasn’t our deal! — Christina, you have to understand—my life didn’t end with your mum. I’m still young, not even entitled to my pension yet. Don’t I have a right to a personal life? Christina froze. Of course, her father could see other women. But in her flat? …Her parents divorced last year. Her mum took the news with bizarre calm, as though she’d dropped a heavy backpack and dived into self-help books. She had so many friends, sadness never stood a chance. Her father, meanwhile, was lost. He moved back to his pre-marriage flat in horror. For ten years it’d been rented; then a tenant fell asleep with a cigarette. No money for repairs—he almost forgot it existed, never sold, never planned to move back in. Frankly, it wasn’t fit for living. Walls blackened with soot, smashed windows, mould on the sills—a haunted crypt, not a home. — Christina, I don’t know what to do… — he’d groaned, despairing. — This place isn’t safe. I’ll never finish repairs before winter. Don’t have the funds for it all. Maybe I’ll freeze… maybe that’s fate. Christina couldn’t bear it. She couldn’t let the man who raised her live in ruin. What if something happened to him? And her flat was empty—she’d recently married and moved in with her husband. Given her dad’s disaster with tenants, she’d ruled that out. — Dad, come stay at mine for now, — she’d suggested. — It’s ready to go, with all the amenities. Fix up your place, then move back. Just one condition: no guests. — Really? — Oleg asked in disbelief. — Thank you, darling! You’ve saved me. Promise, it’ll be quiet and peaceful. Right. Peaceful. As those words echoed in Christina’s mind, the bathroom door swung open, releasing a waft of perfumed steam. Out glided a woman in her fifties, wrapped in Christina’s favourite bathrobe—now straining around the woman’s lavish curves. — Oleg, have we got company? — the lady croaked in a smoker’s bass, smiling indulgently. — You could’ve warned me—I’m in my loungewear. — And you are…? — Christina squinted. — And why are you wearing my bathrobe? — I’m Jean, your dad’s beloved. What’s the fuss? The robe was just hanging there not being used. Christina’s temples throbbed with anger. — Take it off. Now, — she spat. — Christina! — her father pleaded, stepping between them. — Don’t make a scene! Jean just— — Jean just put on someone else’s clothes in someone else’s home! — Christina cut him off. — Dad, are you serious? You dragged your girlfriend here and let her rummage through my things?! Jean rolled her eyes and flopped onto the tiger-covered sofa. — How rude, — she huffed. — If I were Oleg, I’d give you a good talking-to, doesn’t matter how old you are. Watch your tone with your father. His choice to be with someone else is none of your business, darling. Christina was stunned. Some stranger was scolding her, perched on her own sofa. — None of my business, — she agreed. — Not until it’s happening in my home. — Your home? — Jean raised an eyebrow at Oleg, expecting an explanation. He stood by the wall, head down, eyes flickering between his furious daughter and his brazen lover—hoping somehow the storm would pass. But the forecast was grim. — Ah… Did my dad forget to mention? — Christina smiled coldly. — I’ll spell it out. He’s a guest here. This flat is mine. Everything here is mine. I let him stay—but I never agreed he could bring his… partners. Jean flushed a deep red. — Oleg? — she growled. — What’s this nonsense? Didn’t you say this was your place? Did you lie to me? Oleg tried to melt into the wallpaper, ears burning. — Well… Jean, you misunderstood. I have my own place, just not this one. Didn’t want to bore you with details. — Didn’t want to bore me?! Great. Now I get attitude thanks to you! Christina snapped. — Out, — she said quietly. — What? — Jean choked. — Out. Both of you. You’ve got one hour. Stay after that and we’ll settle this with the law. I thought I was letting you into my castle… Christina stalked to the hallway but Oleg finally unstuck himself from the wall and rushed over. — Darling! You’d throw your own father out into the street? You know what state my place is in! I’ll freeze! He clung to her sleeve, and for a moment, her heart wavered—duty, childhood memories, pity for her nearly-pensioner dad. A lump rose in her throat. But then she looked at Jean. Jean lounged, legs crossed, in a robe that wasn’t hers, glaring at Christina with blazing hatred. If Christina backed down now, that woman would be changing locks here by morning. — Dad, you’re an adult. Rent a place, — Christina said, tugging free. — You broke the deal. You moved your girlfriend in, let her use my stuff, and trashed my flat… — Oh, choke on your flat! — Jean butted in. — C’mon, Oleg, don’t grovel to her. Raised an ungrateful… Half an hour of packing—and it was over. Her father left quietly, hunched and defeated. Christina would never forget the look he gave her—a battered, rain-soaked stray dog’s stare. But she forced herself to stand firm. As soon as they were gone, she flung open windows to chase away the stench of fish, smoke, and cheap perfume. She binned the robe, the throw, everything Jean touched. Next day, she booked cleaners and a locksmith. She could barely stand to touch any trace left by that woman—especially her. …Four days passed. The flat was finally hers again. No fake flowers, no nasty smells. She was living with her husband now, but knowing she’d reclaimed her space felt good. She didn’t speak to her dad. On the fourth day, he called her. — Hello? — Christina answered, hesitating. — So… Christina… — her father slurred, drunk. — Are you happy now? Jean’s left. She’s gone… — Wow, what a shock, — Christina snapped. — Let me guess. As soon as she saw your real flat and realised how much work it needed? Her dad sniffled. — Yeah… I put in a space heater. Slept on an air mattress. She stuck it out for three days… Then said I was a pauper and a liar—packed up and went to her sister’s. Said she’d wasted her time… But we loved each other, Christina! — Love? You both just wanted somewhere comfy. And you both miscalculated. Silence. He wasn’t finished. — It’s awful being alone here, darling, — he whispered. — It’s scary… Can I come back? I’ll be on my own, promise! Swear! Christina looked down. Her father, alone, sitting in squalor. But he’d built that squalor himself—cheated on her mum, lied to Christina, bluffed to Jean. She pitied him. But pity would only poison them both. — No, Dad. I’m not letting you back in, — Christina said. — Hire some builders, fix the place. Learn to live with what you’ve made. All I can do is recommend good people—sorry. Need help, just ask. She hung up. Harsh? Maybe. But Christina was done letting anyone stain her robe—or her soul. Some stains can’t be washed away; sometimes, you just don’t let the dirt in at all…

Brought Trouble Upon Myself Dad, whats with all the new stuff? Did you rob an antique shop?
