Diane told her dad, “It’s funny how different we look!“. What if my mom isn’t related to me?
Her father dropped a glass of water on the floor when he heard her.
“I didn’t expect to hear that from my daughter,” Diane’s mother sat down and didn’t know what to do.
As her father looked at her, he asked, “What is your reasoning?”
Diane remarked, “My classmates make fun of me. It’s as if my mom and I don’t have anything in common!”
Mom asked anxiously, “What do you think?”. Look in the mirror or in the photo, and you will see that we are alike, aren’t we? There is something about us that is similar.
“We both have thin fingers,” said the daughter.
Her dad grinned. “I’ll prove them wrong!”
Diane’s mom asked, “What are you planning to do with them?”.
Diane’s father asked her with a menacing expression, “Tell me, Diane, why don’t you defend yourself when they bully you?”
“Enough, she’s not guilty!’ The mother stood up for her daughter. “She has no relevance here; it has to do with us.”
A man’s face twitched as he said, “Oh really? What do you think I should be blamed for? Is there anyone else who can take the blame but her?” he asked.
“I just do not want Diane to fight with them,” answered her mother. “Trying to stir up a fight isn’t my style.”
“This is absurd. Or maybe they’ll start saying that she doesn’t look like her dad soon?” What’s your business? You’re supposed to teach our daughter how to defend herself at school and everywhere else,” answered Diane’s father.
The moment their daughter heard the words, she screamed, “Enough! That’s not what you’re talking about!”.
There was a moment of silence between them as they did not understand what was happening.
In response to Diane’s question, her father asked, “What do you mean?”.
Diane said, “All I need is my mother’s bag, and I can look like her in a few minutes.”
“All you need is your mother’s bag. Is that a bag that your mother has?” Her father asked.
One of my classmates approached me with makeup on her face and said, “Diane, I look like my mother when I wear makeup, but you don’t look like your mother because you don’t apply makeup. That’s why you seem unrelated to your mom. You should wear makeup like hers!”
“I’ll give you my makeup, and we’ll fix it,” Diane’s mom said happily.
They looked at each other and laughed. Even though Diane didn’t get it, she laughed anyway.
