Youre just a builder! She dumped him over his dirty clothes, never realising who he truly is
They say first impressions matter. But sometimes judging by appearances alone can lead you horribly astrayand cost you whats most precious. I want to share with you a tale that might completely change the way you see people.
**Scene 1: Embarrassment Beside the Glass Skyscraper**
Sunlight dances off the panels of an upmarket office block in central London. At the entrance stands a fashionable woman, her designer outfit costing more than most earn in a month. Disgust twists her features as she looks down her nose at the man before herstudying his muddy work boots and the scratched yellow hard hat in his hand.
**WOMAN:** Just look at yourself! Youre covered in dust. I asked you to change your clothes before meeting me at my office!
**Scene 2: Calm Meets Fury**
The man says nothing at first, simply brushing a film of plaster from his denim jacket, then meeting her eyes with placid composure.
**MAN:** I came straight from the site. Weve just finished pouring the foundation.
**Scene 3: A Cold Goodbye**
She steps closer, dropping her voice to a furious whisper as she nervously glances aroundmaking sure none of her high-flying colleagues are nearby.
**WOMAN:** I dont care. Youre just a builder. I cant be seen with a bricklayer. Forget my number!
She spins around, hoping for a dramatic exit, when the towering glass doors swoosh open behind her.
**Scene 4: The Big Reveal**
Rushing from the building comes a harried man in an expensive suit, tablet clutched in one hand. He ignores the woman completely, hurrying straight for the builder.
**SUITED MAN:** Mr. Oakley, wait! The investors are all set for the helicopter tour of your new building.
**Scene 5: Truth Hits Home**
The woman freezes. She turns slowly, her mouth agape in disbelief. Mr. Oakley? Owner of the skyscraper?
The man half-smiles, tossing his hard hat to his assistant without a second thought.
**THE ENDING:**
The woman stammers, her voice trembling as she tries to rally:
Thomas II had no idea. Why didnt you tell me this was your project?
Thomas Oakley doesnt bother to hide his disappointment. His gaze is cool, his words measured.
**MAN:** I wanted to know whether you loved me, or just my title. Now I know.
He straightens the jacket shed called rubbish only moments ago, and walks away, pausing just briefly.
**MAN:** By the way, dont worry about deleting my number. Ill block you myself. Enjoy your day.
He strides off towards the lift as the rotor blades begin whirring on the rooftop above. She remains rooted to the pavement, realising too late that she hasnt just tossed aside a builder, but her only shot at something genuine.
**The moral is simple:** never judge anyone by what theyre wearing. Behind muddied boots may stand the person who builds cities. And sometimes, an expensive suit hides nothing at all.
