My mother threw me out for a man!
A betrayal I can’t forgive
I hesitated to share this story. To some, it might seem mundane—family, divorce, a stepfather. Many have been through it.
But I can’t stay silent. When the closest person to you betrays you, it’s never “ordinary.” It’s pain that doesn’t fade.
My name is Alex, I’m 19, and I no longer wish to call the house I grew up in my home.
A broken family—a broken life
My parents split up when I was 11. I didn’t fully grasp it back then, but I felt my world crumbling.
At first, they tried to evenly split my time between them. A week with Dad, a week with Mum. Soon, they got tired of it and shuffled me around like unwanted luggage.
Eventually, I stayed with Mum. She wasn’t affectionate, never told me she loved me, yet at least it was a stable home.
Then HE arrived.
Michael. Mum’s new boyfriend.
He was ten years younger than her. Confident, loud, always trying to assert his dominance.
I sensed he didn’t like me from the start. And I didn’t like him.
The real nightmare began when he started issuing orders in our home.
There was no place for me anymore
Initially, he grumbled about me “eating too much” or “spending too long on the computer.”
Then he started telling Mum that I was disrupting their life.
One dinner, he outright stated:
— Maybe your ex should pay proper child support? Then you might stop spending money on his brat!
I stood up from the table.
— How dare you? You’re the intruder here!
He jumped up.
— Shut your mouth, kid!
Mum said nothing. She just sat there, staring at her plate in silence.
That’s when I realized: she chose him, not me.
But it only got worse.
An unforgivable betrayal
One night, I overheard them arguing. Michael’s voice was threatening.
I couldn’t take it and stepped into the hallway.
— Are you yelling at her again? – I asked.
Michael spun around, his face twisted with rage.
— You think you can teach me a lesson?
I saw him raise his hand, but I didn’t move back in time.
A blow.
I lost balance and fell. My head hit the corner of the dresser, and everything went dark.
Then—silence.
I struggled to get up, expecting Mum to come to my aid…
But she didn’t.
She just stood there beside him, as if it was normal.
In that moment, I realized I had no place in this house.
I was just cast out
The next day, she approached me.
— You’ll stay with your dad for a while.
— “For a while”? – I laughed. – You’re really kicking me out?
She didn’t answer.
I packed a backpack with a few shirts, jeans, a phone. I didn’t want to stay in that house another minute.
As I left, she didn’t even say goodbye.
I no longer existed for her.
But she’ll regret it
Now I live with Dad. He’s not perfect, but at least he doesn’t betray me.
And Mum stayed with him.
With that man who’s using her.
And you know what? I’m sure he’ll leave. Find someone younger, prettier, and more compliant.
And she’ll be left alone.
And when that happens, she’ll think of me.
But I won’t return.
I won’t reach out to her.
Because a parent who betrays their own child for a man doesn’t deserve forgiveness.
