Hey mate, I need to get this off my chest. So, my mum and dad have always been way more into my sister, Sarah, than me. When they took her and her two little kids little Lily and Max into the family home, they told me Id better clear out straight away, saying With your remote job you can afford a flat, love.
While Sarah was at university, they practically followed her around like a little girl, doing every errand for her at the college admin, stepping in whenever she had a meeting, and now theyre looking after her kids. I never got that kind of help, and now theyre kicking me out.
Dad keeps saying that because Im a bloke I should be able to sort myself out, yet somehow he thinks Sarahs husband whos older than me cant provide for the family.
During the row about moving, I stupidly blurted that I have just as much right to the house as Sarah does, that Im entitled to a share too. Mum snapped back that she and Dad are still living there and called me a pig for bringing up the property split, and Sarah shouted that Im trying to push her and the kids out.
Legally theres not much I can do Im pretty sure Mum and Dad could just write a new will and cut me out completely.
Can a family really fall apart over a flat? Im still their child, but they treat me like a stranger. Makes you wonder why they bothered having two kids when Im basically invisible now.
