Thats exactly what I did when I came across two tickets for a sea cruise in my husbands coat pocket. One of them had the name of another woman on it.
I first met my husband, Matthew, at a bus stop. It just so happened that I dropped my keys while pulling my purse out of my handbag. It was late and dark, and I couldnt find them. Matthew helped me search for the keys. I thanked him, and as it turned out, we were taking the same bus.
Matthew walked me home that evening. We started seeing each other, and after six months, we got married. He used to say it was love at first sight. We spent three happy years together. Then, Matthew landed a new job. I soon noticed hed started to change, but I kept quiet. I thought perhaps it was all in my head. Then, one day, Matthew told me hed be away on a business trip for two weeks.
That night, while he was in the shower, I decided to pop his trousers in the wash and found two cruise tickets in his pocket. One of the tickets was made out to a girl called Emily. Hed utterly betrayed my trust and love for him.
I was furious with my husband and decided to take matters into my own hands. Id loved him deeply and trusted him completely. I said nothing to Matthew. Instead, I rang my old school friend, Andrew, with whom Id always had a good rapport, and asked him for a favour. Andrew and I went to the very same place my husband had visited with his mistress. There, Andrew and I pretended to be a couple. When Matthew spotted us, he came up immediately and accused me of being unfaithful. I told him:
“So, you thought it was acceptable for you to cheat, but not for me? Ive already found your replacement!”
Nearby stood Emily, my husbands mistress. She was clearly stunned and had no idea that Matthew was married. Hed been lying to both of us. Matthew and I divorced soon after that. His betrayal was something I simply couldnt forgive.
Six months later, I married Andrew, and Ive never been happier. Emily and Matthew split up; Emily said she could never forgive Matthew for not telling her he was already married.
