People Adopt Children from Orphanages—So I Decided to Bring My Grandmother Home from Her Care Facility, Even Though All My Friends and Neighbours Disapproved and Called Me Crazy, But Now My Daughters and I Feel Happier Than Ever Living Together as a Family Again

You know how some people foster kids from childrens homes? Well, I decided to do something a bit differentI brought my friends mum out of a care home.

None of my mates or neighbours thought it was a good idea. They all pointed fingers and had plenty to say, like, Times are tough, and youve got someone like that at home now! But honestly, deep down, I knew I was doing the right thing.

Our family used to be me, my two daughters, and my mum. Sadly, my mum passed away eight months ago, so it was just the three of us for a while. During those months, I noticed we still had plenty of energy and love to share, and we really missed that sense of caring for someone.

One of my oldest friends from school had a rough timerather than build a family or focus on a career, he ended up drinking himself into an early grave by the age of thirty. Heartbreakingly, hed even spent his mums pension on booze. And when she stopped giving him money, he shuffled her off to a care home, took over her flat, and drank the rest away.

Ive known his mum, Mrs. Smith, since I was a childshes always been part of my life. My girls and I would visit her every month, bringing round a little something special for her to enjoy. So, when I suggested that we bring her to live with us, my daughters were absolutely thrilledespecially my youngest, Emily, whos four and a half. She actually squealed, Well have a grandma again!

You cannot imagine how overjoyed Mrs. Smith was when we told her the idea. She was so moved she cried with happiness for agesI actually had to calm her down. Now, after nearly two months of having her live with us, were all absolutely smitten. We love her, and she loves us right back.

Whats really baffled us is how someone in her late seventies has more energy than any of us! Every single morning, shes up at six, and we wake to the heavenly smell of freshly made pancakes or crêpes floating up from the kitchen.
