The most painful thing that happened to me in 2025 was finding out that my wife had been unfaithfuland that my brother, my cousin, and my father had known about it the entire time.
Wed been married for eleven years. The woman my wife was seeing worked as a secretary at the company where my brother was employed.
Their relationship began after my brother introduced them to each other. It wasnt by chance; they crossed paths at work, at meetings, business events, and social gatherings where my wife was often present. My cousin also ran into them in similar circles. Everyone was acquainted. Everyone saw each other regularly.
For months, my wife continued to live with me as though nothing was wrong. I attended family gatherings, chatted with my brother, cousin, and father, all completely unaware that the three of them knew about the affair. Not one of them warned me. Not one of them said a word. No one even tried to prepare me for what was going on behind my back.
When I found out about the affair in October, I confronted my wife first. She admitted it. Next, I spoke to my brother and asked if hed known. He told me he had. I asked how long. He replied, For a few months. When I questioned why he hadnt told me, he said it wasnt his business, that it was a matter between a married couple, and that men dont get involved in these things.
I asked my cousin the same questions. He knew as well. He said hed noticed behaviour, messages, and attitudes that made things fairly obvious. When I asked why he never warned me, he said he didnt want trouble and it wasnt right to interfere in someone elses relationship.
Finally, I spoke to my father and asked if hed known too. He admitted it. I asked since when. He answered: A long time. I asked why he kept silent. He told me he wanted to avoid conflict, that such matters should be resolved between husband and wife, and he wasnt about to meddle. In truth, all three said more or less the same thing.
Afterwards, I moved out of our house, which is now up for sale. There were no public arguments or physical altercations because I refused to lower myself for anyone. The woman still works at my brothers company. My brother, cousin, and father kept perfectly civil relations with both her and my wife.
For Christmas and New Year, my mother invited me to her place, where my brother, cousin, and father would also be celebrating. I told her I couldnt do it. I explained that I simply wasnt able to sit at a table with people who had known about the betrayal and chose to remain silent. They celebrated together. I was absent both times.
Since October I havent spoken to any of the three. I dont think Ill ever be able to forgive them.
