One afternoon, Dad called me into his room; he said he wanted to have a serious talk. To be honest, I felt a little anxious. I found a woman waiting for me in the sitting room.
My family circles around my father, who raised me on his own, looking after me and offering unwavering support. My mother left us shortly after I was born, and my father chose not to remarryperhaps afraid of facing more heartache. Life hasn’t always been gentle with my father, and Ive always wished I could grow up faster to help him with all the responsibilities he shouldered.
Given the financial situation we were in, I started working when I was just fifteen. I wrote articles for the local newspapers, and after three years, I landed a better job. A few more years passed, and I managed to find an office job that allowed me to be independent and support both myself and my dad. One day, Dad asked me for another serious conversation, or so he claimed. I felt a bit uneasy. There was a woman waiting in the sitting room who, according to my father, was my mother.
When she saw me, she burst into tears, apologising and trying to hug me, but I just couldn’t bring myself to embrace her. I gently pulled away from her arms and left the room without a word, leaving the two of them alone. I decided to let my father handle the situation as he thought best. I simply cant forgive someone who abandoned both me and my father so carelessly and didnt even bother to send a birthday card after all these years.
