A Chaotic Closet, Piles of Unironed Clothes, Sour Soup in the Fridge – This Is Our Home. I Tried to Gently Raise These Issues with My Wife, but Somehow Ended Up Being Accused Myself.

I fell head over heels for Emily the very instant I saw her. It truly was love at first sight. It was impossible to resist her beauty and charm, and I couldnt believe my luck to have such an intelligent, attractive, and well-mannered girl by my side. Without any hesitation, I asked her to marry me.

We soon decided to move in together, and Emily was upfront right from the start; she told me she wasnt fond of household chores. She much preferred to focus on her career, and suggested we split the chores equally. I didnt see any issue with that and readily agreed. It seemed a fair and reasonable arrangement at the time, but little did I know what the future would bring.

We divided up the housework, and Emily assured me she could manage both her job and her home life without any trouble. I trusted her judgement and didnt insist on doing things my way.

Six months passed, and I began to notice things werent unfolding as wed planned. Emilys professional life didnt go as shed hoped. Shed only managed to find part-time work at a small, obscure company, with an irregular wage and a haphazard schedule. Whats more, she spent her earnings entirely on her own personal wants. Meanwhile, I was working myself into the ground, out of the house from dawn till dusk. Yet, Emily seemed to recall our agreement about sharing chores only when it suited her, and she would sometimes conveniently forget her own responsibilities.

At first, she did her bit around the house diligently, but as time went on, her enthusiasm fizzled out. The house became messier, piles of unironed clothes growing everywhere. To my surprise, she pinned the blame on me, claiming that I should be doing more to help. It cut me deeplymanaging a demanding job alongside all the household duties was becoming unbearable. Right from the start, wed agreed on an even split of responsibilities.

I had hoped things would get better after our child was born, thinking that Emily would take care of the baby and the home while she was on maternity leave. Sadly, the situation only got worse. Sometimes I find myself thinking life would be easier without my wife. On top of everything else, constant bickering became a regular part of our daily routine.

Though I try to see things from Emilys perspective and put myself in her shoes, I cant shake the feeling that my own needs are being neglected. Im juggling work at the office and, when I get home, tackling the chores too. All I long for is a bit of rest.

I cant help but wonder what Emily actually does during the day while shes on maternity leavewhat stops her from preparing dinner or tidying the room? Our baby is just two months old and sleeps most of the day. I honestly think I could manage some of the housework in that time. I cant help but worry how well cope if we decide to have another child. I do believe in equality and supporting each other, but it feels as though Emily struggles to grasp this idea.

I have no wish for our family to fall apart, because I truly adore our child. But I feel that I am reaching the end of my tether. I just dont know how to carry on living like this. Whose side are you on in this story?
