Giving Birth to My Husband’s Lover’s Child

I gave birth to my husband’s lover’s child, unaware, and now they want to rid themselves of me to take my fortune—but they didn’t know a powerful man loved me and would help me destroy them.

I told everything to Edward.
Every word that left my lips felt detached, as if I were narrating someone else’s tragedy—a tale I’d overheard in another life, about another woman.
But no.
It was my story. My nightmare. My truth.

My voice trembled, and more than once, I thought I might crumble.
But I had to continue. I had to be free.
“The child… the child I bore,” I whispered, “wasn’t mine.”
I lifted my gaze and saw him frown, bewildered.
“What do you mean?”
“Someone switched the embryo,” I continued, choking on the words and my own tears. “They replaced it—one that carried my husband’s blood… and his mistress’s.”

Edward stared at me, wide-eyed, as if struck by lightning.
“What—?”
“Yes,” I said. “They wanted me to carry it. To give birth to it. To claim it as my own…”
And then… kill me.
So that child would inherit everything—my wealth, my estate, my insurance. All of it.

I pulled a USB drive from my purse.
“I have proof. A recording—”
I handed it to him. He plugged it into his laptop without a word, his fingers tense.
The screen lit his face.
And then he saw.
Him… and her.
His mistress. My executioner.

The two of them, naked, laughing. Between revolting touches and empty kisses.
And then, as if it weren’t enough, they spoke of me.
“Soon that fool will deliver,” she sneered. “Tell me, when do we get rid of her?”
“Wait until she registers the baby,” he answered coldly. “Then… I’ll arrange an accident. A faulty brake. Nothing traceable.”
“Brakes? Love, this isn’t a film. We need something more… final.”
“I’ve already spent a fortune to have your friend Margaret help at the clinic. Swapping embryos wasn’t simple… or cheap. I had to fake massive losses to justify the money. This can’t fail, Lily. It can’t.”

The video stopped.
Edward stood.
The feared man who made boardrooms tremble.
The lion who roared in the face of rivals.
The shark who crushed competitors without hesitation—now shaking with fury, eyes burning, breath ragged.
“They’re dead!” he snarled. “I’ll destroy them! With my bare hands if I must!”

“No!” I stopped him, grabbing his arm. “Not yet.”
He looked at me as if I’d lost my mind. Maybe I had.
“First… I want them to suffer. I want them to drown in their own misery, the way I drowned in silence. I want them afraid, staring into mirrors, unrecognizable in the hell they created. I want… revenge.”

Edward stepped closer. His gaze pinned me, intense, unreadable.
And then, he nodded.
“Fine. If that’s what you want, I’ll help you.”
I stared, stunned. “What…? What are you saying?”
“I’ll help you,” he repeated, firm. “If you want them to pay… I’ll make sure they pay. Dearly.”
We’ll strip them of everything—their peace, their power, their security. All of it.

I gasped, my chest aching under the weight of emotion.
Tears blurred my vision as I searched his face, disbelieving.
“Why…? Why are you helping me, Edward?”
He glanced down, just for a moment. When he met my eyes again, something unfamiliar burned there—something I couldn’t name but desperately wanted to understand.

“Why do you think you came to me, Evelyn?” he murmured. “Why… to me, of all people?”
I had no answer. My voice was barely a whisper.
“I… don’t know. I just… this was the only place I felt safe. I had nowhere else to go. And here… I knew I’d be protected.”

Edward moved closer, his strong hands cupping my shoulders.
I felt his warmth.
And for the first time in so long, the fear faded.
“This will always be your sanctuary, Evelyn. No one will touch you here. No one will hurt you again. You have me.”
I shuddered.
“But… you shouldn’t get involved. It’s dangerous…”

Then he roared, a sound that shook me to my core:
“I’m involved because I care! Because… I’ve always loved you, Evelyn! Always!”
My world stopped.
I expected rejection. Advice. Scorn.
Never this. Never love.
Not when my life was in ruins.
Not when I felt like the ashes of a broken woman.

And yet… there he was. Loving me in the wreckage.
