I dearly love my son. Ever since he was born, I did all within my power to provide him with the very best. Together with my wife, we indulged his every wish. He always wore the finest clothes, attended the best clubs and societies, and though we gave him every comfort, he showed us nothing but respect.
I worked tirelessly, day and night, to provide for my boy. Yet I never resented it. No matter how busy I was, I always found time for him whenever he needed me.
My son was always a splendid child, and I knew, sooner or later, he would begin to take an interest in girls. My wife and I had long prepared ourselves for this day, and in time it arrived. We hadnt expected it to come so early, but we welcomed his sweetheart with open arms. The only thing we asked was that he bring her over for supper with the family. My son was not at all bothered by this request and happily agreed to invite her along the next time she came to visit.
My wife was fond of the idea as well. We were certain hed chosen a good girl, but still wanted to meet her and be reassuredin the end, he was still our young lad.
When my boy finally introduced his new companion to us, Ill admit, I was taken aback. At first, she seemed perfectly pleasantwell-mannered and amicable. Yet, as we came to know her better, I realised she was nothing but deceitful and cunning. Her character soured quickly, and it became clear she cared for no one but herself.
I work in the police force and recalled she had been suspected of financial fraud. She met young men online, pretended to be an orphan, took money from them, then vanished without a trace. There was a whole list of boys who had fallen prey to her tricks.
I told my son everything I knew about her, but he refused to believe me. He began shouting that Id fabricated the entire story to ruin his newfound happiness. Next thing I knew, he packed his belongings and left to live with his girlfriend.
Its now been a month without any word from our son. I often wonder whether I was too hastyperhaps his girlfriend had truly changed or maybe someone had framed her?
