I love my son dearly, and ever since the day he was born, Ive done everything in my power to give him the very best in life.
Together with my wife, we worked hard to grant him every wish. Hes always been dressed in fine clothes, attended every club and paid hobby class he set his heart onand though he really never lacked for anything, hes always shown his mother and I genuine respect.
I work all hours to support my son, and truth be told, I dont mind in the slightest. No matter how busy I am, I always make sure to find time for him whenever he needs me.
Hes always been a wonderful child, and I knew that sooner or later, girls would start to interest him. My wife and I were prepared for that inevitability, and, as it turned out, that day came sooner than wed expected! While it surprised us that it happened at such a young age, we welcomed his girlfriend with open arms. The only thing I asked was that he bring her home for dinner with the family. My son didnt object; in fact, he eagerly suggested inviting her over the next time we were all free.
My wife was especially pleased with the idea. We were certain hed chosen a good girl, but naturally, we wanted to meet her ourselves and be sureafter all, our son is still so young.
When my son finally introduced her to us, I was caught off guard. At first, she seemed pleasant enoughwell-mannered and friendly. But as we spent more time around her, I began to realise she wasnt all she seemed. Behind the polite facade, she was deceitful and manipulative, only ever truly caring for herself.
I work in the police here in London, and I recognised her from a previous investigationshed been suspected of financial fraud. She had a habit of meeting boys online, claiming she was an orphan, asking for money and then, once shed got what she wanted, blocking them on every platform. Her record was long with many deceived lads.
I told my son everything I knew, but he refused to believe me. He lashed out, shouting that Id made it all up just to ruin his happiness. Then, in a fit of anger and heartbreak, he packed his bags and moved in with her.
Its been a month now without a word from our son. I cant help but wonder if I made a mistakewhat if shes turned over a new leaf, or maybe someone else set her up and I never saw it?
If you were in my place, what would you have done?
