I Split from My Husband, and Now He’s Thriving: He Shows That I Was the One Holding Him Back from Living His Best Life

Hey love, Ive finally pulled the plug on my marriage to Mark, and honestly, hes thriving now. It feels like hes shouting that I was the one who kept him stuck, never letting him live a proper life.

No ones ever cut me deeper than my ex. We havent crossed paths in three months. The last time was when I drove my little Poppy over the weekend to his flat in Manchester. Its only been twelve weeks, and the change in him is night and day.

For years I nagged him about shedding a few stone, but he just tuned me out. He kept scarfing down takeaway pies and fizzy drinks, spent his evenings lounging on the sofa, and I could never coax him out for a walk, let alone a gym session. Now, look at him theres a yoga mat rolled out in the most obvious corner of his tiny flat. Hes got a fresh haircut, his clothes are tidy, and suddenly hes handling everything on his own even the washing machine, which I could never teach him to load properly before.

So we had a chat

Id had enough of his speeches. He went on about how Id put him down all those years, calling himself an idiot for it, but now hes anything but that, and neither I nor the baby are part of his plans any more. Hes in a new relationship, blissfully happy, and hes working on his body, his character, and his career. That hit me hardest. He never lifted a finger for me or for Poppy, yet hes turned into a totally different man for another woman.

People always say you should give as much as you want to get back, but Mark never matched that. I loved him, respected him, and only tossed in a comment now and then because he never felt anything needed fixing. And I never got anything in return

Even after the split, it was all about him, not about Poppy, who he hadnt seen for ages. I wish hed spent a bit of time in my shoes, put in some effort, and maybe gotten the support I always hoped for. But who knows?
