I Thought My Marriage Was Going Well Until a Friend Asked Me a Question

I always thought my marriage was on track, right up until my mate asked me a question that threw me off.

I tied the knot really young, head over heels for James. We dated for about four years before we finally said I do. Weve been through a lot together.

Weve been living under the same roof in Manchester for more than six years now. I trust James completely, and I trust myself too. Hes incredibly sweet, caring and always looks after me. He chips in with the chores without a fuss. Hes not exactly the toughest or the most daring bloke, and hes far from a model, but hes got a genuinely kind heart, a sea of positivity and a belief in goodness that keeps me going when things get rough.

The problem is, he cant make up his mind about anything. He never steps out of his comfort zone and hes terrified of moving forward. Hes also super shy. In all the six years weve lived together, he hasnt changed one bit.

He doesnt look after himself or his health, and any life change makes him freeze up. Hes about ten years older than me Im twentysix and loving every minute of it. I have a brilliant job, I bought myself a new Ford, and were still paying off our mortgage on the little terraced house we share. Then, just the other day, my friend Sarah asked, Why do you even need him?

That was the moment my personal happiness hit a wall, and now Im sitting here wondering, What am I really doing with him?
