My Husband Left Me for My Sister, Moved in With Her, Then Three Years Later Abandoned Her Too—For He…

My husband has left me for my sister. He moves in with her. Then, three years later, he leaves her toofor her closest friend.

Wed been married for seven years. Our marriage wasnt perfect, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. We had a normal routine: jobs, a house, family, Sunday get-togethers. My sister, Emily, would often be over at ours. She was always around. I never noticed anything unusual. In fact, it felt perfectly natural that they got along well. Sometimes Emily stayed for lunch, other times Id ring her to ask for a hand with something, as I worked full time. Nothing ever made me suspicious.

One completely regular Thursday, he left early, saying he was heading to work. He didnt come back for lunch. Then he didnt come back in the evening. Not the next day either. On the third day, when he finally answered his phone, there was no apology or explanation. He simply said, I wont be coming back. I need some space. I thought maybe it was a midlife crisis, that hed gone to a mates. But by the end of the week, a family member told me what no one wanted to admit: he was now living with Emily.

Rumour became fact very quickly. My parents found out, uncles, neighbours. Emily stopped answering my calls. He kept away from our home. A few days later, she collected her things from our place while I was out. No one gave any explanation. Everyone just accepted there wasnt much left to say.

They started living together in a different area. Eventually, they began turning up at family gatheringsthe ones I no longer attended. Emily would say, You dont choose who you fall in love with, and that these things just happen. He claimed he hadn’t been happy with me for years. I was left alonewith nothing but shame and heartbreak. At least we had no children; the pain would have been even worse.

Three years went by. I carried on as best as I could. They still seemed to be togetheror so it appeared. Until one day, through someone else again, I heard theyd split. He had packed up and left. Not on his ownthis time he was with Emilys closest friend, Rachelthe woman who had been there since the start, who knew every detail, Emilys confidante and witness to it all.

Emily was devastated. Hed once again abandoned ship, changed his story, and shifted the blame. This time it was Emilys fault; she was the problem, he claimed. But by then, nobody believed him anymore.

Now, our family is still in pieces. I no longer speak to Emily. She has nothing to do with her former best friend. And hes never once apologised. Hes never taken responsibility.

Is this what they call karma?
