My mother kicked me out for a man!
A betrayal I will never forgive
I contemplated for a long time whether to share this story. Some might find it too familiar – family, divorce, stepfather… Many have gone through this.
But I can’t remain silent. When the person closest to you betrays you, it doesn’t become just another “typical” situation. The pain is constant and unrelenting.
My name is Alex, I’m 19 years old, and I no longer want to call the house I grew up in my home.
A broken family – a shattered life
My parents divorced when I was 11. Back then, I didn’t fully comprehend what it meant, but I felt my world crumbling.
At first, they tried to honestly split my time between them. One week with Dad, the next with Mum. Eventually, they grew tired of this and just shuffled me back and forth like unwanted luggage.
In the end, I stayed with Mum. She wasn’t affectionate, never told me she loved me, but at least it was a stable home.
Then HE appeared.
Mark. My mum’s new partner.
He was ten years younger than her. He acted self-confident, spoke loudly, always trying to assert that he was in charge.
I immediately sensed he didn’t like me. And I didn’t like him.
The real nightmare began when he started giving orders in our house.
There was no longer a place for me
At first, he would just grumble that I “ate too much” or “spent too long on the computer.”
Then he began telling Mum that I was a nuisance to them.
One night at dinner, he outright declared,
— What if your ex starts paying decent child support? Maybe then you’ll stop wasting money on his offspring?
I pushed back my chair and stood up.
— Have you no shame? You’re the one who doesn’t belong here!
He jumped up.
— Shut your mouth, pup!
Mum said nothing. She just sat, staring at her plate in silence.
That was when I realized: she chose him. Not me.
But things got worse.
A betrayal that can’t be forgiven
One night, I overheard them arguing. Mark’s voice was threatening.
I couldn’t stand it anymore, stepped into the hallway.
— Are you yelling at her again? — I asked.
Mark turned sharply towards me, his face twisted with rage.
— You think you can tell me what to do?
I saw him lift his hand but didn’t step back in time.
The hit.
I lost balance and fell to the floor, my head hitting the edge of the dresser, causing my vision to darken.
And then – silence.
I struggled to stand up, expecting Mum to come to my aid…
But she didn’t.
She simply stood there beside him, as if it was all normal.
In that moment, I realized there was no place for me in that house anymore.
I was just tossed out
The next day, she approached me.
— You’ll stay with your father for a while.
— “For a while”? — I laughed. — You’re just kicking me out, aren’t you?
She didn’t reply.
I grabbed my backpack, stuffed in a couple of T-shirts, jeans, and my phone. I didn’t want to stay in that house a minute longer.
As I left, she didn’t even say goodbye.
To her, I no longer existed.
But she’ll regret it
Now, I live with Dad. He’s far from perfect, but at least he hasn’t betrayed me.
And Mum stayed with him.
With that man who’s using her.
And you know what, I’m certain of this: he’ll leave. He’ll find someone younger, prettier, more agreeable.
And she’ll be left alone.
When that happens, she’ll remember me.
But I won’t return.
I won’t reach out to her.
Because a parent who betrays their own child for a man doesn’t deserve forgiveness.
