Two years had passed since my wedding, and from the very beginning, my mother-in-law never accepted me. She believed her son deserved better and did everything to drive us apart.
At first, I ignored her remarks, but her criticism grew harsher over time. No matter what I did, it was never good enough.
My husband knew all along but kept assuring me it would passthat deep down, his mother was kind and would eventually accept me.
One morning, she stormed into my room and splashed a bucket of cold water on me, shouting, *”Wake up, lazybones!”* I jolted awake, stunned and dripping, completely bewildered.
When I asked why she did it, she snapped, *”In my house, no one sleeps past noon! Everyone rises early!”*
I checked the clock: 6:30 AM, *Sunday.* Shaking with anger, I retorted, *”I have a right to rest! Its my only day off!”*
She scoffed, *”What rights? Under my roof, you follow my rules!”*
That was the final straw. Shed crossed every line, and this timeI knew I had to act.
What would you do in my place? Should she have treated me like this?
The rest of my story is in the article linked below.

When I told my husband, I was at my breaking pointbut determined.
I explained how humiliated his mother made me feel and that I wouldnt tolerate it any longer. I wasnt asking him to choose, but I needed his support in setting boundaries.
He stayed silent for a long moment.
Finally, he met my gaze and said, *”Youre right. You and I come first. We should leave and live our own lives.”*
Together, we decided to move away and start freshfar from his mothers toxicity.
