The most painful thing that happened to me in 2025 was discovering my husband was cheating on me and that my brother, my cousin, and my father had known about it all along.
Wed been married for eleven years. The woman he had the affair with worked as a secretary at the firm where my brother is employed. Their relationship began after my brother introduced her to my husband. It was no accident. They crossed paths at work, at meetings, at business events, and at social gatherings my husband attended. My cousin encountered them in the same circles as well. They all knew each other. They saw each other on a regular basis.
For months, my husband came home and lived beside me as if nothing at all was amiss. I went to family dinners, spoke with my brother, my cousin, my fathernever suspecting that the three of them were fully aware of his affair. Not a single one of them warned me. No one said a word. No one even tried to prepare me for what was going on behind my back.
When I found out about the affair in October, I confronted my husband first. He admitted everything. Then I turned to my brother and asked him point blank if hed known. He answered, Yes. I asked for how long. He told me, A few months now. I asked him why he never said a thing. He answered that it wasnt his place to get involved, that these were matters to be settled between a husband and wife, and men just dont talk about these things.
Next I spoke to my cousin. I asked him the same questions. He admitted he knew, too. Hed seen the way they behaved, seen the messages and the glances, and couldnt just ignore it. When I asked why he never warned me, he said he didnt want trouble and didnt believe it was right to interfere in someone elses marriage.
Finally, I confronted my father. I asked him if hed known. He told me, Yes. I asked how long, and he replied that hed known for quite some time. When I pressed him on why he never told me, he said he didnt want to cause conflict, that these things should be handled between husband and wife, and he wasnt about to meddle. In truth, they all said much the same thing.
After that, I moved out of the house and its now up for sale. There were no public arguments, no scenesbecause I refuse to demean myself for anyone. The woman stayed on working at my brothers company. My brother, cousin, and father all continued their friendly relationship with both my husband and her.
For Christmas and New Years, my mum invited me to celebrate at theirs, where my brother, cousin, and father would all be. I told her I couldnt go. I explained I simply couldnt sit at the same table with people who had known and chosen to stay silent. They celebrated together while I stayed away from both occasions.
Since October, I havent had any contact with any of the three of them. I honestly dont think Ill ever be able to forgive them.
