The Wedding Dress Mystery: A Shocking Discovery at the Altar

**Diary Entry**

The wedding hall buzzed with quiet excitement, sunlight spilling through tall windows onto gilded chairs filled with well-dressed guests. Cameras flickered, capturing the moment, and the air hummed with anticipation.

Standing beside Oliver, my hand trembled slightly in his. My ivory mermaid gown clung perfectly, the veil sweeping behind me. A smile played on my lips, though a flicker of unease lingered.

“You’re all right,” Oliver murmured, squeezing my fingers. I nodded—until something shifted. Not beside me. Not behind. Beneath. A faint rustle, as though something hid within the layers of my dress.

I stiffened. Oliver frowned. “What is it?”

Then—another movement, stronger this time. The fabric swayed, as if something fought to escape. Gasps rippled through the room. My bridesmaid, Emily, clapped a hand over her mouth. Aunt Margaret muttered a prayer. The air thickened, heavy with shock.

A whisper. A tiny, unmistakable sound. There was no denying it—something was under my dress.

“Blimey,” muttered James, one of the groomsmen, shifting uneasily. No one laughed. The room held its breath.

Then—sudden, sharp movement. I shrieked, stumbling back, lifting my skirts. A collective gasp. Oliver tensed. The registrar, a poised woman named Judith, froze mid-stamp.

Out darted a shadow—small, black, hissing. A guest yelped, champagne splashing onto the linen. I clung to Oliver. “What on earth—?”

The little creature wobbled, paused… and meowed.

Silence.

Oliver blinked. I stared, heart racing. There, on the floor—a tiny black kitten, tilting its head at us.

“A cat?” someone cried.

Oliver gaped. “Why’s there a cat under your dress?”

I opened my mouth—then a small voice piped up. “Erm… maybe mine?”

All eyes turned to my little sister, Lily, clutching her stuffed bear, cheeks pink. “I didn’t want to leave him alone,” she whispered. “He hid in the veil basket. I thought he’d run off.”

Laughter erupted, tension melting like mist. Oliver exhaled. I scooped up the kitten, its purrs vibrating against my palm.

“Meet our furry witness,” I joked, scratching its head.

Judith chuckled. “Any further objections to the marriage?”

The room roared again. Oliver grinned. “If this is how we start, married life won’t be dull.”

“Positively purr-fect,” I teased.

Lily inched forward, eyes wide. “I’m sorry… Mum said we couldn’t keep him, but I’ve been feeding him. His name’s Binx.”

Oliver ruffled her hair. “Suppose we’ll have to adopt him, then.”

The ceremony resumed—vows exchanged, applause ringing out. Lily cuddled Binx, beaming. Later, as guests sipped champagne in the garden, Emily laughed. “That cat’s your good-luck charm!”

Oliver winked. “Just the first of many adventures.”

And when Lily tugged his sleeve—“Uncle Oliver, can we keep Binx?”—he crouched to her level. “Only if I get to spoil him too.”

So Binx became family—the star of every retelling, immortalised in our wedding album not with a kiss, but with me holding him, the caption reading: “Every great love story has a little… surprise.”
