Three Years Ago I Divorced My Husband—Apart from Our Son, We Had Nothing in Common. I Wasn’t Surpris…

Three years ago, I divorced my husband. Apart from our son, we had nothing in common. It didnt even surprise me when, a month after our split, my husband found himself a new, younger girlfriend. Three months ago, they got married.
Truth be told, Im over it now. But yesterday, I received a message from her that left me feeling downright baffled. She told me that we should just leave Oliver alone and stop demanding money from him, because now, we wouldnt be seeing a penny.
My son is five years old. For a long while, I was on maternity leave, so Oliver covered all of our expenses. Now, I work part-time.
Right after the divorce, we agreed to sell our three-bedroom flat and exchange it for two places: one for my ex-husband, and one for me and our son.
Oliver pays proper maintenance each month. But I want to take care of my own costs myself, so Im always going to interviews and searching for a full-time job. Every bit of the money Oliver sends goes towards our sonnursery fees, hobby clubs, toys, food. I set aside a little for the household bills.
Judo classes, which my boy is eager to start, need extra funds on top.
This summer, my ex sent more money on the condition that I take our boy on holiday. So off we went to the Lake District. My sons delight was boundless; he was as bright as a lantern in the evening.
I am glad that, regardless of our split, Oliver hasnt forgotten his child. Even if I had urgent matters, Id often leave our son in his care. Oliver would take him to shopping centres, for walks, or to the cinema. Yet, my son has never once been to his fathers house.
I presumed it was his new wifes doing. I didnt concern myself until her odd message arrived.
Recently, she even dared to ring me. She said I lacked conscience, that my ex-husband spent most of his salary on us. I didnt hold back. I told Oliver everything right away. He was furious. Supposedly, he told her to keep her nose out of his business and, above all, not to meddle with his finances.
But the worry lingers in my mind that she could convince Oliver to reduce the money he spends on our son. If that happens, Ill be forced to refuse my child so many things.
I hope Oliver still holds the decency, honesty, and kindness that first made me fall for him. This whole dreamlike episode plays on, echoing with confusion, like a silent conversation in a room where the windows lead to nowhere.
